Heat, Speed and Strength: Electrifying Finfrock’s Precast Curing Process

Executive Summary

The Project
From February 3rd to 13th of this year, EXACT’s xCure team completed a two-week installation of an electric curing system on Finfrock’s existing 384-foot double tee beds. While the system was installed in Apopka, FL, it was moved and commissioned in Belle Glade, FL where it now resides. This project, which began in planning stages back in September 2024 and is set to be commissioned in summer 2025, marks another milestone in the ongoing relationship between EXACT and Finfrock. By retrofitting electric heating onto existing formwork, EXACT enabled Finfrock to modernize operations with minimal disruption and extend the value of their previous investments. The installation was efficient, collaborative, and the results provided an electric heating solution over other mediums of heat.
Behind the Scenes: What We Had to Work Through
The project, while ultimately successful, came with a few notable challenges. Several last-minute procurement needs emerged just prior to installation, requiring expedited shipping and precise coordination. Thanks to the responsiveness of our procurement and operations teams, all necessary components arrived on time to maintain the project schedule. Logistically, the team had to coordinate the installation across two massive 384-foot beds that had been prepped but not originally built for electric curing.
The most significant technical issue arose when a few heaters failed during installation. Although these units had passed quality control testing in-house, it’s likely that damage occurred during transit. At the time, there were not enough spare units available on-site to fully resolve the issue. As a result, during the commissioning phase in May, our team had to return and replace the faulty heaters to ensure full system functionality. This experience reinforced the importance of contingency planning and on-site redundancy for future installations.
What It Took to Make It Happen

Over the course of two weeks, the team installed a total of 540MI and 16 Nichrome heaters - across 18 bed sections, using over 2,000 weld studs. Thanks to labeled wiring harnesses, pre-positioned weld clips, and efficient planning, the retrofitting process was smooth and accelerated each day. Having welders on standby ensured any unexpected repairs could be managed instantly. Behind the scenes, EXACT’s production, operations, and procurement teams played a critical role in delivering the right components on time, including last-minute needs.
The real win, however, was strategic: retrofitting Finfrock’s existing forms with EXACT’s electric curing system gave them a powerful modernization tool without the cost and disruption of replacing infrastructure. This upgrade allows Finfrock to apply controlled heat to the concrete curing process, enabling faster form stripping and more consistent early break strength results.
The Result: A Stronger System, A Smoother Process
The project was a technical and logistical success. Not only was the job completed efficiently, with daily improvements in process and pace, but the results promise long-term value. The electric curing system will improve production output and consistency at Finfrock, helping them stay competitive while maximizing the use of their existing forms. These two curing beds are just the latest in a growing list of EXACT installations for Finfrock, reaffirming a trusted partnership built on reliability, innovation, and high performance. A milestone project completed with rapport, commitment, and a few jokes about flying weld studs. This job proved once again that EXACT delivers more than just heat; it delivers results.
